Description

Situated in the culturally rich Miramar district of Havana, the Mexican Embassy embraces its vibrant context and tropical climate through a design that integrates natural ventilation and fluid spatial connections. Nestled between the ocean to the north and a river to the east, the embassy capitalizes on natural breezes to create half-interior, half-exterior spaces that embody an open, inviting atmosphere reflective of Mexican hospitality.

The architectural language is defined by Flemish and perforated brick bond styles, with gracefully curved arcs radiating at a precise 2-foot-6-inch radius. This curvature fosters a seamless flow, linking spaces visually and structurally while enhancing the sense of openness. The nuanced variation in mortar, ranging from 1/2 inch to 1.5 inches, supports the curvature’s stability and adds a deliberate refinement to the brickwork. The design harmonizes functionality with cultural expression, embodying the vibrance of Cuban and Mexican identities.
